March leaving like a Lion and Supreme Court...

I believe that Mother Nature got a cold and is Grumpy too. She is showing her wrath by tossing rain, snow, sleet, wicked winds, and then more rain and fog our way.

I won't complain too hard though as we need the moisture badly. We will take it in any form she wishes to give us.

The weather causes some issues with our eldest mule Mica's digestive system, she does tend to get a bellyache when the weather temps change rapidly. She hasn't gotten bad but we have to keep an eye on her.

I actually tuned into the Hearing at the Supreme Court yesterday. It was surprisingly understandable as to how certain Justices were asking questions as to the way they were leaning. I don't pretend to know legalize at all. But as a woman who saw Roe V. Wade happen as a Senior in High School and saw Roe V. Wade fall two years ago, I am stunned.

I recall when women were not allowed to have their own bank accounts or allowed to have credit cards.

How far will women's rights fall?

If they rule against mifepristone? I think they should make Viagra illegal. Take away some men's rights to control their bodies and see what happens.

It was an interesting listen. Just. Wow.

Scary Stuff

I watched the January 6th Committee broadcast last night and was slightly shocked at how the 'tRump' acted. I say slightly because it is no surprise that such a narcissists would care about anything than himself.

IF he did nothing and the rioters overtook the nation's capitol and took out Mike Pence along with other members of the Senate, his bidding would have been done. He would have stopped the count of the electoral votes.

What came to mind was the following.
Why did no one stop him? Does the President of the US have so much power that no one can 'check' him/her?

Did the man want to be Dictator and King? I think so. He wanted to stay in a position of power where he could increase his wealth and power without any fear of retribution. He surrounded himself with like minded people who were out to destroy everything our nation stood for.

This morning I read a post by 'friend' that was outraged that anyone was investigating the events from J6. His quote: Why are we still fighting over President Trump's non action on January 6th?

It goes on to complain about the current president. I am not going to go there because J6 was about lies, deception, insurrection, and a danger to our democracy and not about inflation and current events.

How is history going to see this 45th President? What will be written in the text books?

What will be the Hollywood version of this in years to come?

Will we ever know how close we came to losing our rights as Americans?

According to some, if 45 were successful, he would have ended elections so he could be a Dictator.

I watched the outtakes of his video on J6 and on January 7th where he decided that despite everything, he still would not concede the election.

I will conclude with this. Our country is going through a crisis or should I say an upheaval such as we have never seen before.

Will a madman again rise to power? We are still reeling from the damage of his years in office.

Remember that throughout history,
there have been tyrants and murderers,
and for a time they seem invincible.

But in the end they fall.
Always.

:(

What the F happened?

Normally I don't include current events in my blog. But I will comment on what happened in Highland Park Illinois yesterday.

My parents rented a house in Northbrook while we were kids. While school was in session, I lived in the northern suburbs. Each summer my mom packed us kids up and we moved to NW WI and lived in a two room cottage with no heat or hot water.
As children we learned the importance of hunting and gathering. That was a way of life for my Grandparents.

That isn't quite relevant, except to understand that I grew up with one foot in the affluent neighborhoods which included friends from Highland Park and each of the towns surrounding the area.

So when I saw the news story of the mass shooting in Highland Park at the 4th of July parade, my very FIRST thought was.

No, it cannot happen there. NO, it wouldn't happen there. Really, why would it happen there? How could it happen there?

And then it hit me. It doesn't have to make sense. Assault weapons and some person with a grudge makes the NEW reality.

It will happen here
It will happen anywhere.

It will happen in
your town.

It is just a matter of
time.

I'm so sick of 'thoughts and prayers'. Time to ban weapons of this type.

I won't win an argument regarding the second amendment, I'm not that well versed in law. And I do own rifles and a .22 pistol. I am a hunter of varmints, but rarely find any opportunity to shoot anything. I've come to carrying pepper spray most of the time as it is easier to use and is not deadly.

I have a background in weapons as I trained with them for nearly 10 years as a part of my job. We were told over and over again the consequences of firing a weapon.

We did not have semi auto weapons.

There are no reason for anyone to own them.

Not unless you just want to kill humans.

When will our government representatives do the right thing?
When will our high courts do the right thing?

America used to be a pretty decent place to live.

I didn't celebrate the 4th of July.

We normally don't go to parades and fireworks. I'm married to a veteran who responds negatively to fireworks and crowds.

He had a grim view of yesterday's events, and he agrees that weapons of war should not be in the hands of the ordinary citizen no matter what.

This is my opinion and I feel rather strongly about it. How long must this go on?

Shocked

I'd be remiss if I didn't acknowledge what transpired at our nation's capitol yesterday.

I cannot recall the last time I'd ever been 'glued' to live coverage. Nor can I ever recall having a politician [not sure he even deserves that name] that incites violence and riots as our president. I put that in a small P because this man has not deserved the title.

He should have been removed from office a long time ago. And after yesterday? He should be censored or the Cabinet needs to invoke the 25th Amendment.

Thank goodness Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram locked his accounts.

Put him in a windowless room and shut off his TV, take away his smartphone and access to all media.

Let us not forget that this man who called for violence and who lives in an alternate reality where he can never lose ~ has the Nuclear Codes.

Even his family who are his most ardent supporters think he went too far.

His ploy really didn't work well did it? Stop the certification of President Elect Joe Biden?

Over run the capitol and threaten our Senators and Congress persons with violence so that they had to be evacuated and hide for their own safety. Making Democrats and Republicans huddle together and fear for their own lives as 'he who shall not be named' has supporters who are over running the Capitol and scaring the crap out of our nations leaders.

What better way to show the Senators and Congress folks that indeed the leader is unhinged and dangerous.

Senator Mitch McConnell said that Congress had faced a "Failed Insurrection."

Vice President Mike Pence: "We condemn the violence that took place here in the strongest possible terms. We grieve the loss of life in these hallowed halls, as well as the injuries suffered by those who defended our Capitol today. And we will always be grateful to the men and the women who stayed at their posts to defend this historic place.

To those who wreaked havoc on our Capitol today, you did not win. Violence never wins. Freedom wins. And this is still the People's House...Let's get back to work."

Just when I think I can

not

be shocked any more by this person who calls himself a leader

I am shocked and dismayed once more.

I would love to see how this gets written down in the history books in years to come.

Let's get back to work.
