I've also been working on two separate 'toy' story lines for my own entertainment.
One is outdoors with the orange and black Titan 13 3D articulated figure. I've set the Lego folks aside for now since my creative juices are mesmerized by these two figures.
Titan 13 photographs very well outdoors much to my surprise.
A Toy Photographer on Flickr and Toy Photographers [.com] asked me what the back story was to Titan 13. Titan 13 is the name of Toy and all the variations of this printed figure. It is 5 inches or 13 cm tall.
I replied "No back story yet. I'm wondering if he just got dropped into this world and we'll have to figure out what is happening by looking at the photos."
I'd like their poses and actions in the shot have to speak for themselves.
I do appreciate many other photographers who include a narrative to tell the viewer what is happening in the picture. Wouldn't it be unique to let the viewer decide? Or even yet, another thought popped into my head today.
What if I just gave each shot a one word description?
Reflections
Unwind
Dreams
Or...
what if there is not title but the viewer decides on the word or vision for themselves?
....
Another thought struck me. What about doing a series of shots without a narrative by me, but a narrative by the figure itself?
Happiness
Sadness
Surprise
Lonely...
Hmm, it is a thought.
And yes, I'll be bringing back the wooden guy this month. I usually pull him out to do a Valentine's themed series of photos.
With the landscape as dull as it is, I need to do something else that keeps my enthusiasm up for right now.
After your second paragraph I began humming, "There will be ice in the valley for me." You know, from the gospel song, BTW you could post your photos a little larger.
ReplyDeleteBut clicking on them allows you to see them large doesn't it?
DeleteI don't know many gospel songs. I wasn't brought up in a house that listened to it. Mom was Country Wester, Dad was Classical, and brother listened to Rock 'n Roll.
:)
I do like these figures. Reflections is on a piece of plastic? That is amazing to me.
ReplyDeleteActually those figures were laying on top of ice and a skiff of water in our creek. Though the reflection can be attained with plastic. I try and do only outdoor with the black and orange figure.
Delete:)
Cool ice shots! The last one without a caption "What were we thinking!" :)
ReplyDeleteGood one, I hadn't thought of that!
DeleteYour colorful figures provide the perfect pop of color! I personally love one word titles/descriptions from artists. I find them thought provoking. Charlie lol, he is a smart dog <3
ReplyDeleteI know you know which shot I am most drawn to :)) yep, Reflection.
Yes, that was quite the fluke. Solid ice under them with a bare trace of water on top made it a perfect spot...with the sun just at the right angle.
DeleteSerendipity.
LD.. The very first photo with the tree reflection is just perfect, Its a great capture. I enjoy your action figures living in the wild. They do suggest many kinds of emotion with the just right pose. I use to play with my toy farm animals in such a way putting them in real life situations.
ReplyDeleteI am always fascinated too by the steepness of the valley and the reflections from the forest above in all seasons.
DeleteWe used to do the same thing with our toys, put them in real life situations as we saw it.
It was so cold in Illinois but then my daughter got downpours and the backyard and garage flooded because the ground was frozen.
ReplyDeleteHeeey....my granddaughter just got accept to the University of Wisconsin. :-)
Yes, frozen ground is awful this time of the year in heavy rains. We usually have flash floods if that happens.
DeleteOH nice UW? Which place? That is awesome.
On a roll indeed! Lori
ReplyDeleteWell, continued movement at least.
DeleteI eagerly follow your walks and relish your enthusiasm for winter and its delights, undiscovered by most. Keep on exploring!
ReplyDeleteThis land is very remote and I don't believe many people, even the owners of the properties on both sides of me know what it is like in all of the seasons.
DeleteIt is like I've been able to walk it and study it for 29 years now.
I like the one word synopsis approach, whether it's by you or by the figurine(s).
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos and fascinating to see how the ice forms. The reflection of the forest just draws me in. Charlie is adorable and have to say I love your Titan figure photos.
