Exploring ICM and IR

I couldn't decide on which colors I liked
best for this shot. Nothing spectacular but
as least you can see that
there are some neat choices.

These shots were with my Infrared Full Spectrum camera. And the colors I picked with this filter allowed me to have fun. I love watching the sun and fog mix here. It takes a bit longer for the sun to appear over the trees since we are in a 'hollow'.

Next photo. I was having a rather boring afternoon and really felt the need to 'create' something. I took my tiny dried lavender out and Bang! An idea came to mind.
I put my tiny bears to work sorting and putting dried lavender that I'd sprayed with fixative into a tiny vial I had found in a thrift shop.

They were very cooperative.

Later on I watched a video by Olympus UK regarding something kind of bizarre and interesting. It is called ICM. Intentional Camera Movement.

You know me, I had to try it.

My goal was to create visually pleasing images and in this case not necessarily realism in the way that traditional straight photography is done. More abstracts of color and motion.

Done with an Infrared Camera at dawn...

I tried this next with my little pocket camera.
And wow...I really like it.

Memories of self

I put was able to get the pocket camera to have a 30th of a second shot with a short delay. I pressed the button and dangled it by its strap for the above photo.

Now...

back to my regularily scheduled program...

Life about the farm...

Morning begins with coffee in the cozy red cottage.  We sit in the kitchen eating area on the right of this photo and watch the animals in their winter pasture.

Then it is time to do our chores which include feeding the hounds, the different pastures, and watering the stock tanks.

Here the girls sit and wait there turn for a drink as the get fresh water.  Thank goodness for tank heaters!

Next stop to check on the donkeys who are hanging out and discussing the day's activities.

They seem to be doing fine, just looking around for some sunshine to break through so they can line up and soak up the sunlight.
Meanwhile in the 'Jenny Craig Pen' Opal, Fred, and Dyna hunt for hay chaff before they get their morning flakes of hay.
In this pen we can closely monitor their weight and daily condition.

Dyna needs a bit of a diet and the other two are aged mules so I like to keep them close and keep an eye on them!
Later in the afternoon I hike down to my favorite spot in the creek bottom and snap a shot with the pink 'Fugly' camera.

It is a pocket camera that refuses to die.  Even when I dropped it in these waters last year.  Though you can see by the creek shot, that if handled properly and with a bit of thought, the camera will take excellent shots.

This is one of the cameras I take when riding a mule.  It will shoot video and pretty decent shots.

When I come back from the creek I see the most amazing clouds!
In fact all the photos in this post were done with the pink 'Fugly' camera.  Yes I edited them for artistic fun.

Today is another day.  I am looking forward to seeing what is out there.
The temperatures are supposed to get to 31 degrees!  That is -.5 degrees Celcius
for my friends abroad.

I love carrying my FujiFilm FinePix HS 30 EXR!

I know, this is probably going to sound stupid.  But really everyone should carry a camera with them.
OHHHH, wait!  People like my son and his wife who have smart phones [who doesn't these days?  :)  ME!] would be carrying a camera with them at all times.

Okay, let me rephrase this then.  Carry a cool camera that has magnificent zoom lens capabilities.

I have started carrying my FujiFilm FinePix HS 30 EXR with me in the car.  Yesterday on the way to town I pulled over twice and grabbed that camera.
Once for this:

And once on the way home for this:

I think they are the same pair.  I shot both of these photos through my old Cavalier's windshield and they actually came out pretty good for going through the scratched and pitted glass to attempt a focus on far away objects!

Later on I went for a walk with Morris and Dixie.  I used the FFFP HS 30 EXR again to take a panoramic shot with Morris in it.
The shot turned out okay, but I have to laugh as Morris was moving so there are three shadows of his back in this shot!

I'm quite excited about the snow fall STILL!  The trees are still laden with heavy snow and I'd like to get some shots before the winds come up and blow it off.

It is fairly cold outside.  21 degrees F, or -6 degrees C with a wind chill too.  Although I can usually avoid winds if I stay in the woods.
