One foot at a time.
I did fence off two sections of yard over the past few weeks, but the other day I decided, enough was enough,...I went to where hubby had bought his country clipper and got a used walk behind mower.
I also asked the gent we purchased the Clipper from to come out and help me figure out how to run the damn thing. He is a good guy and will come out and give me a lesson!
So I went after the yard which was over knee high in places. I attacked, the mower plugged. I stopped, cleaned it and attacked again.
Over and over with frequent breaks ... I worked hard and harder.
Yes...that wasteland is a part of my yard that I had to 'wade' through to hang laundry!
I worked all afternoon and nearly until sunset to hack at the yard.
Finally, the first mowing was done since last fall. Can you imagine?
Since we'd had so much rain I didn't want to just fence it in and let the critters have the run of the place, I would have had a real mess on my hands.
Though after being exhausted and hot, I mulled that thought over and decided that maybe...maybe...it could have been an alternative.
I was hoping that having a mowed yard would help my husband's mood when he came home.
The grand kids were here and all were awaiting our arrival. Steve had his week wacker out trimming, Steph was using my little mower to trim other areas, and in my absence they managed to make the yard look even nicer.
The sunset wasn't like this last night, it was rather dark and gloomy, almost threatening.
But all critters are fine, most everyone is on summer pasture...and I have 200' of electric fence to finish putting up and then everyone will be out in the woods and meadows.
Life almost feels peaceful today.
Grand kids are still sleeping and Morris is patiently waiting for them to awaken.
Morris will be going back to 'Uncle John and Aunt Nancy's' house tonight a we have another long week ahead of us.
He loves his job greeting patients at the Chiropractic Office.

Do you want to get up early?
I asked the Grand kids if they wanted up at 5:30 am - ish to go to Jersey Valley and watch the sun rise.
They said yes.
The morning was overcast and foggy, but I decided to chance it anyway. Heck we might see something interesting and was supposed to be the coolest part of the day.
So off we drove.
And we were not disappointed.
The fog had not dropped into the valley yet.
And the morning view became incredible.
And some of the best shots came from none other than my Grandson Dennis with the Fugly Pink Camera.
Go figure right?
There was of course the obligatory 'Selfie' shot of all of us. This one turned out the best...and not only that the most endearing and fun.
Morris came along and was probably the happiest dog in the world.
Thank you Dennis for the great shots, Thank you Ariel for taking such good care of Morris...
And thank you kids for agreeing to try this again tomorrow.
Maybe we can bribe Grandpa to get up with us and have breakfast in Westby on our way back!

Grandma Grandpa Camp? They forgot me, Morris.
Do you have any idea how hard it is to watch 3 bigger kids and a baby kind of kid that is just my size all at once?
I mean I love kids. I like kids.
But.
All that kid watching can wear an old fella out.
It is like watching a whole litter of kids ~~~ especially when you add the kidlits from the neighbor's place.
I'm the dirty diaper alert-er deluxe.
I can smell when the wee little one with the thing they call a NUK in its mouth does the smelly thing in her diaper.
I get all happy and try to stick my nose up her leg.
Funny.
Grandma Val goes 'EWWWW and so do some of the other folks around here.'
I don't think EWWWW at all.
But then I guess they don't have refined noses like myself.
I've snuggled with the girl kids and most nights I spend in a nest I make next to the wee kidlit. She can crawl pretty good for a pup. Her eyes are open and sometimes she even growls at me.
I'm not sure what that is all about though.
My most important job so far has been to come into the kitchen after meals and after the wee one eats and clean up the floor.
I'm pretty sure it is an important job and I just don't see Grandma Val getting down there and licking up the spilled crumbs.
Well, I better go take a nap in my crate.
The wee one with the plug in its face keeps keeps trying to grab me.
I learned after one pinch that it is best to avoid her little hands.
