A bit of Abstract

With the weather being so difficult and awfully hot, this summer I've been playing around with abstract art that can be 'made' by computer graphic programs.

I keep going back and forth between 3 wonderful free programs.

Incendia EX

I've been experimenting with colors and black and white also.  Sometimes I go all out for the wild colors and sometimes I go for the subdued black and white.

Sometimes I mix Apophysis 7X and Incendia EX 

This colorful abstract was made with an image from Incendia EX and a flame rendered from Apophysis 7X.

I used a .png format for the flame and made more than one layer.  I used Flaming Pear's plug in called Flood to get a watery reflective look for both the flame and the Incendia figure.

The Incendia EX creations I also save in .png format.  That gives me a transparent area to work with.

For this image I used the 'Stars and Hedras' fractal and decided that I just wanted a 'simple' sphere.  I was able to match the colors to an Apophysis 7X flame.

Here is a closer view of the layers I used.

 I really loved how simple this graphic piece turned out.  I messed with it, adding more layers and trying out different twists and turns, but in the end, decided that simple was prettier.

Then in a black and white and something shiny mood, I created this in Mandelbulb 3d and added some simple spheres in layers.

I really enjoyed the metallic look I got from this.  

I think it is fun to just enjoy and create.

After all, if you don't get something you like, you can always delete it.

I have to look into rendering the images better and do a bit more research.  I rendered these files differently than in the past.

I really don't know why, but I guess I was experimenting a bit.

The render did take nearly 3 hrs.

A long time, but I considered the final image worth letting my laptop churn away while I did something else.

Its all about Fractals!

Fractal art is stunning in my opinion.  It is not everyone's piece of cake, but it intrigues me because the possibilities are endless.

You take a 'Fractal Program' and literally design your own abstract artwork.

You can take images you make in a fractal program and combine them in any image editing program and come up with some stunning and unusual.

I have found some unusual and extremely beautiful fractals done with the Mandelbulb 3D program, the following artist is extremely talented in multiple programs.

His name is Jorge and his blog is called 'fraktalblog'.  You should stop and browse his artwork and check out his links to other blogs and websites.

I stumbled upon his artwork and am glad I have.  He has pointed me into some new and exciting directions with Mandelbulb 3D.

I just enjoyed experimenting with one of the new parameters included in this latest version.

Dodeca Torus.  I call this my Dodeca Torus Star.  I did fool with the formula a bit with this.

Mandelbulb 3D Parameter Sharing

Most folks who are into Mandelbulb 3D creations are usually pretty happy to share their parameters for some of the creations they have made.  A great site to explore parameters is The Design Space.  Ellen explores a parameter usually in more than one way.  She will take a parameter and re-work it many times, experimenting with it.

The above fractal was created from a parameter of Ellen's called The Sentinels.  I changed the formulas and colors along with the shading until I came up with something that satisfied me.

There are other artists at places like deviantArt that will share also.  These are great places to go and search or explore what others are doing.

This is the parameter that should get you close to the Mandelbulb I made from The Design Space site called 'Sentinals'.

You highlight the text and copy it from the first line where it says Mandelbulb3Dv17{ ... all the way the end bracket ...}

Next you take it to your open Mandelbulb program.

And...use Control V to put in in the box as shown below.

Then you will see this upon Calculate 3D.

When you get a cool parameter it is fun to share with someone else and see what they can make out of your version as we all like different effects in our Mandelbulb 3D 'Art'.

Here is another one I made out of the Sentinals Parameter.

Go out and seek some parameters yourself and experiment with the formulas and colors.  

Then share what you have made.

It is more fun that way!
