Catch up here...

For those who don't follow my  'The Long Road' blog which covers a totally different subject than what is found here I am taking a break from a lot of my fun exploring and photography fun.

Rich entered Hospice Care in March of this year and we've had one heck of a good summer fulfilling his Hospice Wish List. You've read often about Steve, Rich's fishing pal who has made weekly adventures possible for Rich and I.

Things changed over the Labor Day weekend and Rich took a huge down turn. Let's just say that my time outdoors has come to a screeching halt as I tend to hubby. He was placed on the 'Active Dying List'. We had a short 24 hr rebound and now are going through the rest of the process.

So I will be absent here for a bit, but filling in updates over 'there'. Writing about an experience has always been a cathartic exercise for me. It is no different for what is going on now.

Things are quiet and peaceful here.

The photo above was taken about 10 years ago with hubby riding out on a bluff with our mule Fred in the Spring when we were 'shed' hunting.

I'll leave it at that.

Oh my gosh, Val. I'm so very sorry. I've been out of it for a while now too with so many things happening over here. I'll be thinking of you and sending lots of aloha.

Thinking of ya as you continue the journey. Hubby's heart knows you did all the right things. You've done a beautiful job coordinating and providing his care. The mules understand too. Linda in Kansas

The Chaplain had suggested a Memory Book for me and I'm doing exactly that. I'm including my...MY favorite photos of him over the past years and will send it out to be printed today. It will be a table top book celebrating our time together.

That's okay, no worries. I've been too crazy busy this last week other than to catch up at quiet times on the other blog. Now I am sitting by him with my cell phone making some responses to readers.

A very good memory. I hold all the best ones close.

I think Charlie is having such a hard time with it too. He lays quietly watching on a chair nearby.

You have been on my mind. The chaplain is wise, this is a very good idea. That photo of Rich says a lot.

May he be blessed with a peaceful passing. I sat with my brother, and with my mother when they passed and although the journey to the other side through illness can be a tough one, at least it gives time to prepare. I have been praying for him every day, and will include you too, as this is a tough time for all.

LD...I have been concerned the past two months. The road isn't easy and still you do need to take care of yourself if it is possible. I am sorry that anyone has to go through these life changing experiences. Thoughts and prayers for you both. Larry
