Happenings.....

Hannah was not impressed with her 'outfit' for Halloween. I picked it up when I ordered a reflective vest for Charlie.

The look says it all.

Hannah:
I'm not fond of this! I will be a statue and not move and give mom the LOOK.

However, Charlie didn't seem to mind his new reflective vest. It fits him so much better than the one I've had for him in the past. What a difference a few years makes in the availability of sizes.

I think they will wear these outfits while Trick or Treating with the grandkids at the end of the month. Not a bad idea to have a reflective little black dog!

I'll have to put the dress on Hannah a few more times so she can get over the statue thing. However, I've found that a t-shirt or snug stretchy dog shirt seems to calm her down quite a bit. I wonder if that is the same theory behind Thundershirts for dogs.

I've always thought 'clothes' for dogs were kind of dumb, but I have to admit, I am having fun with these two.

Drum roll please.

This is what it looks like from just above the house on the lane through the woods. There is a pretty green yard that now surrounds the concrete pad instead of piles of junk and weeds!

I cannot believe how beautiful the place looks now! The trees in the left side of the photo will be trimmed down so as not to be a hazard to the shed.

From this shot you can see that our house sits in a hollow with a long drive that goes to the ridge. I do wish Rich had lived to see how beautiful it would look without the busted garage and stuff laying around.

Oh yes, we still have the outhouse. I was going to take it down, but maybe I'll clean it up inside and use it for rakes and shovels.

Yesterday in the late afternoon,

the tree dudes showed up and parked their bucket truck.

Charlie who is a my Security Chief

went out and made and inspection. Once he peed on all the tires, he pronounced the place secure.

He'll stay in the house when the crew comes back and starts up with the chainsaws. He really gets nervous over loud noises. Chainsaws, gunshots, and lightening all cause him to cower and shake.

Onward!

Today ought to be interesting. If the noises are too much for Charlie, I may have to take them somewhere for a while.

    1. She did get used to her 'dress' and ended up playing in the yard with it on, so I think it will be okay.
She was happier when I took it off!

  3. Not one of my greyhounds would move when I put a coat on them. I had to give up because they weren't going to. The place looks gorgeous. I'm so happy for you.

    1. Haha! I get it! I'm waiting to see how Hannah handles the cold, so far, so good. She is bouncing around so hard that she is creating quite a bit of heat.
It is funny how different dogs react to things put on them. I bought a fluffy jacket for my Jack Russell years ago. He destroyed it by chasing rabbits through briars and burdock.

      :)

  4. We have been able to borrow a proper little coat for Jake but haven't needed to use it yet. I wonder at what temperature we should use it.

    1. I guess you would have to wait and see if he shivers or looks cold on one of your walks. I've never used a coat for keeping a dog warm before.
With dogs that don't shed, I think they get cold easier, but I am no expert at that.

  7. Your property looks wonderful! I am sure Rich is looking down and admiring all the work.
The photo of Hannah in the dress is priceless. You know she is your daughter. I think that is the same look you have in a dress, maybe?

    1. Hah, you nailed it. I will wear a Hawaiian muumuu though without cringing or a gypsy style skirt once in a great while.

Love that photo of your property. Wow! And that lawn too. Little Wonder is fine with his black coat. He will need it pretty soon...we have been getting hard frosts at night. Lori

    1. I like LW's coat and am glad it keeps him warm. Non shedding dogs are more sensitive to cold I think?
The contractor said he used a different seed and was really glad when I sent him the photo.

LD...Chainsaw sounds can be irritating to humans. If he is inside he may not care. Your place looks all cleaned.
