He must have got a second burst of energy because he really went for the gold. Little dog who loves snow play.
This afternoon we are having this:
Photo taken looking across the pasture. So is March going to come in like a lion then?
We got seven inches of snow in a short space of time.
The girls were just fine as it was a fluffy snow with no winds. Here they are after they left their hay pile and took a walk to the heated water tank. This morning they are napping in the warm morning sun in their leftover hay.
The heavy snow band was very narrow and heavy.
I did this thing while waiting out the snowstorm. I went on line and looked at Petfinder.com out of curiosity. I had this sudden horrible urge to ... to... add to my house.
Tell me I am crazy and stupid or that it isn't a good idea to add another distraction of love to my house.
Is two better than one? Is it? I don't have any photos of years ago when I had two larger dogs living with us and the kids. The dogs were always a joy and a lot of work.
I do have photos of me raising Rich's hound dogs along with Morris my Jack Russel and having Charlie pair of with the big ol' coon hound, Dixie.
This is how that experiment worked out....
Just go ahead and tell me I am crazy and that it is a stupid idea. Please. Because my Heart ππππis really having a go of it.
It's always been a thing with me.....
I will be meeting Bently tomorrow at noon. He is the one with the colorful chest.

Those cute little puppy faces are SO HARD TO RESIST!
ReplyDeleteSo true. My heart is open though for this. But I'm still trying to decide.
DeleteIf Charlie is ok with it I say go for it. But then I am the person who had 7 large dogs at the same time.
ReplyDeleteWe had 9 hounds and three hound puppies I was training for Rich. I loved the puppy training, it was the best! I take all the time in the world with it.
DeleteI feel like I suddenly had the sunshine fall into my life with this prospect.
Do it! Dogs love to have a buddy and you and Charlie will give him a good and full life. We have adopted so many over the years, with no regrets. Think of it from the puppies point of view and the quality of life you can give him. Lori
ReplyDeleteThis will be a first adoption which is cool. Puppy work is probably some of the most fun work ever. I love working with animals.
DeleteI think Charlie won't be so lonely when I leave him home too.
Here...
comes
trouble!
If it fills your heart with joy, it is the right thing to do. Looking forward to puppy posts!
ReplyDeleteIt will help mend it.
DeleteI like having two and one is nice as well. The other day a lost puppy followed me into the house. Soooo cute she was. We found her owners. Though they weren't even looking. Which, well, just sucks.
ReplyDeleteNo kidding! I grew up with cats and dogs in the house. Raised my boys that way also.
DeleteI'm really happy to make this decision.
Charlie needs a puppy friend. Dogs need a pack. I'd say go for it. Some dog is about to win the lottery.
ReplyDeleteYes, Charlie does get lonely home alone.
DeleteBut I'll have some great double duty to keep me occupied with a pup.
Oh those faces!!!!!
ReplyDeleteRight?
DeleteWe started with a cat, then two, we moved, another arrived, we moved, some departed, and then we had 5 , one chosen, others adopted us. Now just one, I ,at 85 feel I am too old for another .Go for it, with so much love in your heart a new pup will have such fun and great company for Charlie.
ReplyDeleteMy mom at 92 still has a dog. My sister gave her one of her elder dogs to keep her company. It works well for them, as I think my sister or the grand kids help out.
DeletePets are wonderful things.
Thank you for being such a wonderful pet owner.
Go for it! You and Charlie will both be over the moon. RHill, TX
ReplyDeleteI can say because one dog is too much for me. I like to pat dogs and then move on. And although I am a cat guy at heart, even a cat feels like too much these days.
ReplyDelete❤️ I know that Charlie has done exactly that. We used to visit others so they could pet Charlie and then enjoy him for a while. He was great at that job.
DeleteHopefully he will help this newcomer.
It is a grand idea! The more the merrier.
ReplyDeleteMust be something in the air. Our daughter/Jameson's mom just adopted a (rescue) puppy over the weekend, found down south. Which means I/we also have a puppy joining our family, since J still lives with us half the week.
Well, Charlie is starting to slow down which is ok. But he seems to be a bit saddened without Rich and all of his Hospice friends we had all summer.
DeletePerhaps this will cheer him up. Oh, me too.
I was about to say that you should make a rational decision not an emotional one, but that's a total oxymoron isn't it?
ReplyDeleteIt is a commitment for a long stretch of time. I'm good with that. After caring for hounds, dogs, and mules for 30+ yrs, it is just a welcome addition with some additional adventures.
DeleteI’m not sure we are the best people to ask π€£π€£π€£π€£
ReplyDeleteWell, gosh, ya gotta do what the heart says. You're a wonderful critter owner. Just make sure the new one has puppy snow shoes! They'll be on their way to being a Certified Good Boy too. Linda in Kansas
