A FLASH FLOOD WATCH IS IN EFFECT FROM THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH
TONIGHT.
A SLOW MOVING COLD FRONT WILL PRODUCE
SHOWERS AND SCATTERED
THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS THE REGION
THROUGH TONIGHT.
WITH A VERY
MOIST AIR MASS ALREADY IN PLACE...
THESE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS
WILL BE HIGHLY EFFICIENT AT PRODUCING
RAIN FROM THIS AFTERNOON
TROUGH TONIGHT. RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF
2 TO 3
INCHES WITH LOCALLY
HIGHER AMOUNTS WILL BE POSSIBLE DURING
THIS TIME PERIOD. SOME
FLOODING COULD RESULT...AND THE POTENTIAL
FOR MUD SLIDES IN AREAS
WITH TERRAIN.
WITH CLOUDS THICKENING OVER THE
AREA TODAY...
INSTABILITY IS EXPECTED
TO REMAIN LIMITED. THE MAIN SEVERE
THREAT FROM ANY THUNDERSTORMS
WILL BE THE LOCALLY HEAVY RAINS
WHICH MAY PRODUCE FLASH FLOODING
AND MUD SLIDES...ALONG
WITH DANGEROUS LIGHTENING.
