Saturday morning. We had 4 inches by
chore time.
How can I tell?
It was chest high on Charlie.

He is a reliable measuring

Sundance during the
storm.
I stressed all morning wondering if Frank the Plow guy was still plowing this year and if he remembered to put me on his list.
ALL morning. I paced, I cleaned the house, I dusted, I must have put on quite a few steps pacing.
I cleaned up my Lego Medieval Village and considered starting to take out my Christmas Legos. I paced some more and moved a large cabinet to clean behind it.
[I texted him and asked if he was still plowing this year and if he was, please not to forget me. He never really checks his texts, he is an old fashioned farmer/earth moving guy who has a gravel pit.]
He is just Frank.
Around 1PM I gave up pacing and got dressed to go out and shovel another walk way.
I heard the rumble of his ancient red pickup. There he was just a grinning away. We spent a few minutes discussing the weather and the passing of his brother and his father this past year.
With a big smile on his face [and one on mine] he continued to plow that long driveway hill of mine and I felt a peace come over me.
When I came back inside I announced, "Frank was back!" I knew the house was empty, but I also knew that I was telling this to my hubby.
A friend suggested I purchase a side by side and a plow and do it myself. I weighed the cost vs. paying Frank and decided I would never spend the price of a UTV in plow fees.
I just have to be patient because as Frank said. "Oh, I'll get to you eventually!"
Now to get out and enjoy some snow scenes and shovel an area for Charlie to do his business. The snow comes up to his nose.
Gun season ends at sundown.
Goodbye November.

LD....Eventually is from and easy going person. I knew you had snow as some of our storm headed towards you. We ended up with 14 inches. My wife talks out loud to someone all the time even when I am not around.
ReplyDeleteWell, if I don't talk to an empty house or the dog, I suppose I would forget how to talk!
DeleteThat was a big dump of snow! Yay Frank the Reliable!
ReplyDeleteYou might have to rely on Sundance for measuring big snow dumps. Glad Frank and his Little Red Truck are still trotting along. I wonder if he plows the drives of folks who have to get to work first. My plow guys always tried to get our nurse drives cleared at daylight because of our bizarre schedules, to leave or get home. Whew! Glad hunting is over. I think Kansas/Missouri has a quieter bow hunting section. Be careful out there! Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteBow hunting runs through until January 6th I think but not a lot of those guys are out in the woods. There are special hunts still coming up so I need to check the schedules.
DeleteI would be in trouble if the snow was up to Sundance's shoulders! That would be over 4 ft of snow!
Yeah for the end of gun season and a snow plow driver. You have much more snow than we do...ours doesn't cover the grass yet.
ReplyDeleteWe have been enjoying it!
DeleteWe had a couple of big snowfalls here. Between the two I spend about four hours shovelling!
ReplyDeleteWell that is a lot of work! I do shovel a path for myself to bring in groceries and for the dog to get around. It all takes time and hard work!
DeleteI feel the same way about snow removal. So nice that you have Frank available to take care of that for you. We shovel and when it's deep Gary uses the snowblower. So far, not much snow. Sounds like you are very organized....inside and out. Lori
ReplyDeleteMy driveway is just below about an 8th of a mile long which means shoveling and snow blowing are pretty much out of the question.
DeleteWe didn't get that much snow, but we did get a plowing.
ReplyDeleteWe had about 5". We have a skid loader we use for plowing but I would go with a Frank if I had one. Then I wouldn't have to freeze while plowing.
ReplyDeleteI do have a skid steer but I am not proficient enough with it to really plow well. The steep hill is very hard to do going up it. I used to watch Rich do it with ease and he had tracks with spikes on them!
DeleteI'm glad you can do it, that takes a bit of talent! More than driving a car!
