Things to do when it is unbearable outside. Bring some outside into the house. Since I was having fun with the candle holders, I thought I'd expand to sticks and bark. Using glue, moss, and some funky crafty items, I got busy.
and I took it a step further.
Since my 'photo table' had to be moved out, I haven't had a good place to do indoor dioramas are creations. However I muddled through and had to avoid the concentrator and avoid stepping on the 02 lines...
but I made it work.

I ended up putting the items on a box and using a cutting board that was made from an Italian Olive Tree for the backdrop.
I went out after the sun went down and decided to watch Fireflies. On the forest edge, they were abundant in the tall grasses.

Fantastic photos, Val! You did an excellent job with the sticks and bark.
ReplyDeleteI had a long 'dry' spell from creative stuff because of having to always get something done outside.
DeleteThe heat forced me indoors so I had to think of something [not cooking] to do.
In the dragon vs bunny fight, my money was on the rabbit . . . but I see it's gone from a subsequent photo, so I guess I lost that bet.
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't a dragon vs. bunny, that little dragon is friends to all!
DeleteThe bunny was something I just had handy and forgot to put it in the one I actually set up!
:)
I like nice dragons, but I do have some wild ones.
You made good use of what you found. Stay cool!
ReplyDeleteLooks like the mini fig (first photo) survived this ridiculous heat only to get taken down by a tree branch. You are funny! The Boogie Man duo made me smile. It's great how you make mini dups work. Oh, and I love the Milky Way shot!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't shot the night sky in a looong time, or even used my big camera. I should probably do something about that before I forget how lol.
I like your creations, but the process would drive me crazy. Not that I could do it since I don’t have the required imagination.
ReplyDeleteYou may have the imagination but in a different sense. Any person who can do photography like you can and mess around in photoshop has a great imagination!
DeleteI just have always 'made' up stories.
OH the FIREFLIES!!! I love it!!! They seem to have disappeared from here over the years. A true sign of summer. I'm glad you can make do for your adventures!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if you were to get to a park that has woods and some brush -- maybe some long grass -- if you could see them.
DeleteOr the other thought is that there has been a lot of insecticide spraying in your area and they won't be around...dang it.
:(
The fireflies are certainly doing a lot of dating dancing! Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteI hope to get out a few time more before they are done with their mating season.
DeleteI was surprised at how many showed up in 4 minutes flying in front of the camera lens and up the driveway.
You are so creative, Val. My daughter in Illinois was telling me it was 95 degrees today as she was driving home.
ReplyDeleteYikes. It was 95 or 97 here on Sunday and it was pretty nasty. I don't think some of my flowers liked it even!
DeleteThat is hot.
